Ethnic Kachin rebels in Myanmar say government troops have launched two artillery attacks on the city that serves as their headquarters.
Rebel spokesman La Nan says no casualties or significant damage were reported in the assaults Sunday on the northern city of Laiza.
Myanmar's government did not immediately comment on the accusations.

La Nan says a nearby army post fired four shells in the morning and three more in the afternoon. He says it was the second such attack since Dec. 19.
Fighting erupted in Kachin state in June 2011 after a cease-fire with the government that had lasted close to two decades.
There have been off-and-on skirmishes between the rebels and the military in Kachin since then.
