Hernandez is accused of murdering semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd. A jury is expected to be seated for opening arguments in his murder trial as early as Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015. Judge Susan Garsh had cleared 53 potential jurors after individually questioning them to weed out people who are biased, have a hardship or have a valid reason to be excused. Former New England Patriots tight end and convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez has quickly made himself at home in lockup — settling into his cell, making new friends, joining the Bloods and participating in gang-related prison fights.

On Monday night, several law enforcement sources are reporting, he was shipped off to Special Management Unit of the MCI-Shirley Souza-Baronowski Correctional Facility after he was allegedly involved in an attack on another inmate.

"It was two-on-one, he was part of the two," said one prison official, who spoke to ABC News on the condition of anonymity. Another second source said the inmate was beaten in his cell and that it appeared "gang-related."

When the former NFL star, who is currently serving a life sentence without parole for the murder of his friend Odin Lloyd, was taken by the prison guards to his segregation unit, they found that he had received a new tattoo that references the Bloods gang.

"The victim in the fight was some absolute nobody. He was just trying to show he's down with the Bloods, a scared man looking at life in prison," a source said.

All three inmates will be disciplined, prison officials said.

This is not the first time that Hernandez has had an altercation with another inmate. Last February, while awaiting trial, he had an altercation with another inmate at the Bristol County House of Corrections.

In that instance, the altercation took place when Hernandez was walking in a secured hallway and came in contact with an inmate who had been bothering him.

Despite already spending the rest of his life in prison, Hernandez will be back in court soon to face a double murder charge related to the killing of two men in a 2012 drive-by shooting in Boston.
