Chilean state television says a man shot at crowd with a pellet gun in the Chilean port city of Valparaiso and injured seven people.

State TV says the unknown gunman fired in downtown Valparaiso several times before he was brought down by passersby.

Valparaiso police chief Fernando Bywaters tells local television that people have been arrested and one of them is a 15-year-old minor.

A local business owner says a fist fight broke out earlier in the area and the shooting could be related.

The injured are being treated for pellet wounds at local hospitals and police are investigating.
