Woman's son charged after her body found in Louisiana ditch
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Authorities say the son of a Louisiana woman whose body was found has been arrested.
According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, 44-year-old Byron Montgomery was booked Tuesday on second-degree murder and obstruction of justice charges.
News outlets report that the naked and decomposing body of 63-year-old Patricia Davis was found in a ditch on Oct. 31 in New Orleans East.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Sheriff Joe Lopinto says investigators came to believe that Davis was killed at her Marrero home and later dumped in the city.
The case earlier cost a sheriff's office sergeant his job for allegedly lying about his decision to stop deputies from entering the victim's home after they heard screams from inside, a few days before her body was found.
It's unclear if Montgomery has a lawyer.
