How the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics defines:
— Labor force: civilians 16 and older, excluding those confined to institutions such as prisons or nursing homes, who are working or looking for work.
— Labor force participation rate: The percentage of the civilian, non-institutionalized population working or looking for work.
