The baby died at Westchester Medical Center on Aug. 22, two weeks after he was injured at his parents' home.
The charges were filed after an investigation by Middletown police and the Orange County District Attorney's Office determined Michael Heil caused his son's death. Authorities haven't provided details of how investigators believe the infant died.
Heil was being held without bail Thursday in the county jail. It couldn't be determined from authorities if he has a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
