RICHMOND, Va. – The governing body for fraternities at the University of Richmond has cancelled this weekend's scheduled fraternity events after the Kappa Alpha chapter was suspended over an email described as "grossly offensive."
The Interfraternity Council said in a statement that the council wants to "re-evaluate and assess current community practices." The group stressed that it stands firmly against sexual violence and "perpetuations of toxic masculinity."
The Kappa Alpha chapter was suspended this week after its members sent an email that included what the school called "grossly offensive language."
The email was obtained by the school newspaper, The Collegian (http://bit.ly/2cTl4rX). It contains an invitation to a fraternity party and says the night will be one "that makes fathers afraid to send their daughters away to school."
