Tour Amazon's Funky Pop-up Loft Designed for Tech Entrepreneurs

Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon's cloud computing service, recently opened its first ever New York Pop-up Loft this summer.

Like the first loft, opened last fall in San Francisco, the space gives startups a chance to answer questions about AWS tools firsthand. It also provides a chance to expand AWS’s footprint with startups and entrepreneurs, as the cloud market heats up. AWS revenue grew 49% last year and while it leads in market share, services from rivals like IBM and Google are also growing quickly.

The education hub is part co-working space and part education hub, complete with a troubleshooting bar, classes and boot camps. Whimsically decorated with graffiti posters and kitchenette packed with free snacks and beer, it’s also a space Amazon hopes startups will want to go to, attending concerts or watching a ping pong tourney on the roof deck.

"You can come every day. The idea is to let people have an educational experience on their schedule," says Ariel Kelman, VP of Worldwide Marketing.
