Police say a veteran female Hartford, Connecticut, police officer remains in critical but stable condition after she was stabbed several times in the neck by a woman who was being evicted from her apartment on Thursday.

The officer is in the ICU after undergoing several hours of surgery at Hartford Hospital. Authorities haven't released the officer's name.
Police say that the suspect, 39-year-old Chevoughn Augustin, is in custody and has been charged with attempted murder. Augustin was treated and released for a minor hand injury.

Court records show the landlords of an apartment building where a Hartford, Connecticut, police officer was stabbed in the neck and critically wounded had been trying to evict a woman who they say wandered the halls late at night and confronted other residents in a hostile way.
Police say the veteran female officer was called to a disturbance at the building Thursday morning and was stabbed multiple times by a woman who was being evicted. Officials say the officer is in surgery at Hartford Hospital. The suspect is in custody.
Authorities haven't released the names of the officer and suspect.

It's not clear whether the legal case filed on May 2 involves the same woman who wounded the officer, but the defendant lives on the ninth floor where the stabbing occurred.

Hartford police say a city officer has been stabbed in the neck and critically injured by a woman who was being evicted from her downtown apartment.
Deputy Chief Brian Foley says the veteran female officer suffered "life-threatening, life-altering injuries" Thursday morning and was undergoing surgery at Hartford Hospital.
Foley says the suspect, a 39-year-old city woman, is in custody.

Foley says the suspect grabbed the officer in a headlock and repeatedly stabbed her in the neck. He said maintenance workers who pulled the woman off the officer were heroes.
The officer was called to a downtown apartment building for a routine eviction.
