Teen disarms Chicago cop, shoots him with stun gun

A teen who took a stun gun off a Chicago police officer and then shot him with it was held on $300,000 bail after a court appearance Tuesday.

Two Chicago cops were checking to make sure Dashawn James was abiding by his curfew Sunday night when the 19-year-old ran away from them, The Chicago Tribune reported.

James became argumentative when they caught up with him and, as he wrestled with the officers, he grabbed one of their stun guns. He deployed the gun several times, hitting one of the officers in the arm, a police report said.

The other officer fell and fractured his knee during the scuffle, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

The second officer deployed his own stun gun on James, who was taken to a local hospital for observation.

After being released from the hospital, James was charged Tuesday with aggravated battery to a police officer, resisting arrest and disarming a police officer.

Assistant Cook County state's attorney Erin Antonietti said James, who was born in Chicago but raised in Texas, was wanted on warrant in Arkansas in connection to aggravated robbery, theft and fleeing charges.
