Suspect in 4 Buffalo shooting deaths keeps lawyer

A high-school dropout charged with opening fire on a crowd outside a Buffalo restaurant says he wants to keep his lawyer, even though he once represented a witness in the case against him.

Twenty-three-year-old Riccardo McCray was in Erie County Court on Friday, where a judge agreed to allow attorney Earl Key to continue to defend him.

Friday's hearing was called after Key told officials he'd once represented one of the witnesses the prosecution expects to call at McCray's murder trial in March.

Wearing a suit and handcuffs, McCray told the judge he doesn't want a new lawyer.

McCray faces first- and second-degree murder charges for the deaths of four people gunned down outside Buffalo's City Grill Aug. 14. Four others were wounded.
