PHOENIX – A suspect accused of deliberately plowing his car into three Phoenix police officers has been hospitalized.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said Sunday that 44-year-old Marc LaQuon Payne was transported to a hospital Wednesday and has yet to return to the jail.
Sheriff's spokesman Chris Hegstrom would not give details about what Payne was being treated for, saying the office does not release medical information.
Payne is being held on charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal damage and resisting arrest.
Police say Payne sped across the parking lot of a convenience store early Tuesday and seriously injured two officers. A third officer jumped out of the way but suffered minor injuries attempting to arrest Payne.
All three have since been hospitalized and released.
