San Diego police have arrested a man suspected of tossing a chemical on a woman, causing second-degree burns to her arms and back.
Police said the woman was walking into a laundromat Saturday when a man got out of a BMW, confronted her and threw the liquid substance at her. About 20 minutes later, officers responding to reports of a man causing a disturbance at a gas station determined that he matched the description of the woman's attacker.
Sgt. Ray Battrick told U-T San Diego that the man, identified as 55-year-old Arturo Jose Reyes, had never met the woman before.

The motive of the attack was under investigation.
Experts at the Fire Department were trying to determine the liquid, but Battrick said they suspect it is an acid.
