Sentencing is scheduled Thursday for a Utah man accused of shooting his wife's father during a Father's Day Mass in Ogden.

The 36-year-old Charles Richard Jennings Jr. took a plea deal in November, pleading guilty and mentally ill to charges of attempted murder and aggravated burglary. He also accepted a firearms violation.

A sentencing hearing last month was delayed so the judge could get more information from the state mental hospital about where Jennings should serve his time.

Jennings' attorney has said that Jennings was having a psychotic episode the day of the shooting at the Catholic church.

The victim, 66-year-old James Evans, is back at work doing well physically. But the Rev. Erik Richtsteig says Evans and the rest of the congregation remain scarred by the incident.
