RI man cleared in rape of pregnant woman
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A Rhode Island man has been cleared in connection with the rape last month of a pregnant woman during a home invasion.
Central Falls police said Thursday that DNA testing results cleared 22-year-old Joiseth Osorio in the June 25 rape.
Police say state Attorney General Peter Kilmartin dropped all charges against Osorio. He was initially identified by the victim in a photo array. The woman recanted her identification of Osorio on June 26.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Defense attorney Rebecca Tougas is on vacation and could not be reached Thursday.
Police say three masked men forced their way into the woman's third-floor apartment and threatened and sexually assaulted her at gunpoint while here two young children were home.
The attack is still being investigated.
