Reagan National Airport officials received 6,500 complaints from one person in 2015

Reagan National Airport officials said they received a total of 8,670 noise complaints last year and at least 6,500 of them came from one person.

Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority officials said that one unidentified Washington resident was responsible for roughly three-quarters of last year’s noise complaints, according to the Washington Post. That adds up to about 18 calls every day for one year.

“We find the complaints to be completely valid, which is why we’ve formed a community working group,” David Mould, spokesman for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, told the Post. “We hope to find some good solutions.”

Ed Solomon, president of the D.C. Fair Skies Coalition, a group founded to raise awareness of the residents’ concerns, said he hopes that the news of the total amount of complaints doesn’t take away from the need for the airport to change the flight patterns.

Airport officials have said they are working with residents in the area to address the noise.
