Prosecutor: Driver in crash that killed teens was on PCP

Published March 11, 2016

A New Jersey man accused of speeding when he fatally struck two teenagers last weekend is facing additional charges after investigators say he tested positive for PCP.

Hudson County prosecutors said Thursday that 23-year-old Eric Patterson has been charged with two counts of aggravated manslaughter. The Jersey City man was charged with death by auto and assault by auto after the crash Saturday night.

Authorities say Patterson was driving 74 mph in a 25 mph zone when his car went over a curb and hit 17-year-old Bryan Rodriguez and 16-year-old Noel Herrera on a sidewalk in North Bergen. Another teen was injured in the crash.

Patterson said at a court appearance Monday that he plans to hire an attorney.
