Cecilio Rodriguez, of the popular Hawaiian singing group Cecilio and Kapono, was sentenced to a year in jail Friday after pleading no contest to sexually molesting two young sisters in Los Angeles in the late 1990s.

Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney Adrian Roxas said the 67-year-old singer entered the plea to charges of molesting the first girl between 1996 and 1998 and her sister between 1997 and 1999, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The two girls were aged between seven and nine when they were molested by Rodriguez while he stayed at their family home during California tours.

Superior Court Judge Gary Hahn sentenced Rodriguez to one year in jail and ordered him to complete a year sexual offender counseling. Rodriguez was also placed on five years' probation.

The Honolulu Star Advertiser reported that Rodriguez will have to report to the Los Angeles County Jail on March 9.

Rodriguez -- who was convicted on similar charges in Hawaii in 1992 -- has been free on $200,000 bail since Oct. 1, after being arrested over the molestation charges last September.

Cecilio and Kapono, also known as "C and K," was a collaboration between Rodriguez and fellow Hawaiian Henry Kapono. After forming in 1973, the duo released more than a dozen albums with a number of record labels, including Columbia.
