A 58-year-old Florida man says he has no regrets for interfering to stop his neighbor from beating a woman even though he was stabbed in the scuffle and the blade missed his heart by only half an inch.
The incident unfolded Tuesday in an Ocala neighborhood.
Victor Carter told the Ocala Star-Banner (http://bit.ly/1EHns7g ) that it would have haunted him if the woman had been seriously injured or killed.

Police arrested 23-year-old Calvin Gene Washington on multiple charges including domestic battery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A news release says Washington punched a 45-year-old woman Tuesday night. She went outside and the beating continued. Washington grabbed a knife and threated to kill her. That's when Carter intervened.
Washington was jailed. Records don't indicate whether he has a lawyer.
Carter is recovering at an Ocala hospital.
