Police: 1 dead after shooting at southwest Florida home
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Authorities say one man is dead after a shooting at a home in southwest Florida.
Cape Coral police said in a statement that officers responded to a home Thursday evening following a report of a terminally ill man with a gun.
When officers arrived, police say the man came outside and started shooting at officers. An officer returned fire and the man went back inside the house. Officers then heard a shot from inside the house. They found the man dead inside the house.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}No officers were injured.
Investigators remained at the home throughout the night.
The agency says the officer who fired the weapon will be on administrative leave pending an investigation.
