A New Jersey mother who didn't immediately seek medical attention for her injured toddler daughter after her new boyfriend allegedly beat and sexually assaulted the child won't be freed from prison.

The state parole board's decision means Amber Bobo will serve at least 18 more months. The 27-year-old Gloucester woman had received a three-year sentence in May after pleading guilty to child endangerment and agreeing to testify against her boyfriend, Michael Disporto. The 23-year-old Manahawkin man was charged with murder in the July 2016 death of 23-month-old Ariana Smyth.

Disporto has maintained his innocence. He remains jailed on $1.5 million bail.

Authorities say Bobo noticed the girl's injuries and suggested taking her to the hospital, but waited several hours because Disporto waved her off.

The child died from blunt force trauma to the head.
