Outburst From Gallery Halts Casey Anthony Trial

May 13: Casey Anthony reacts during her trial in the courtroom at the Pinellas County Criminal Justice Center on the fifth day of jury selection in her trial, in Clearwater, Fla. (AP).

An outburst from a member of the courtroom gallery has interrupted jury selection in the murder trial of an Orlando woman accused of killing her daughter.

The proceedings went into recess Friday after a woman sitting the Pinellas County courtroom gallery yelled, "She killed somebody, anyway" in the direction of defendant Casey Anthony while Judge Belvin Perry was questioning a prospective juror.

The woman, white and in her 30s, was escorted out of the courtroom by deputies and Perry sent the potential juror back into a holding room. Perry held her in contempt of court. The potential juror was excused.

Perry hopes to seat a jury of at least 12 sometime Friday. Jury selection is being held outside of Orlando because of intense pretrial publicity.
