Oil Spill Claims Chief Feinberg Draws Ire on Alabama Coast

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. -- The administrator of BP oil spill claims is getting a taste of the widespread dissatisfaction with the system on the Alabama coast.

Kenneth Feinberg attended a community meeting that drew some 700 people in Orange Beach on Wednesday.

The session began with most everyone standing up to show they'd filed a claim. But they indicated only 20 or so have been paid anything, and none received the full amount.

Orange Beach Mayor Tony Kennon says Feinberg has people's lives in their hands. He says hurricanes seem like a joke compared to the oil spill.

Feinberg says he is dedicated to making the system work. He says 16,000 claims were approved in the first weeks after he took over as head of the $20 billion escrow fund.
