AKRON, Ohio – An Ohio man has pleaded guilty to stabbing his son to death for trying to evict him for stealing money for drugs.
Fifty-three-year-old Kevin Golec entered the plea Monday in Akron before his trial on aggravated murder charges was set to begin. He was charged with killing 22-year-old Brian Golec at his son's Akron home Feb. 13.
Authorities say Brian Golec told Kevin Golec to leave his home because his father had stolen money to buy drugs. Brian Golec had invited his father to live with him after learning that Kevin Golec was living in a truck.
Golec's attorney says 15 years to life in prison is the only possible sentence under Ohio law. The attorney says he hopes the family receives closure.
