Ohio Dentist Offers to Buy Back Kids’ Halloween Candy
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}An Ohio dentist is offering children the opportunity to turn their Halloween candy into cash to promote dental health, the Mansfield News Journal reported Sunday.
Craig Callen, a dentist based in Mansfield, about 65 miles southwest of Akron, will pay trick-or-treaters $1 per pound of unopened candy they bring in to his office between Oct. 31 and Nov. 4, and throw in a new toothbrush as a bonus.
He is also raffling off two children's bicycles.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}"Visiting your dentist twice a year and brushing your teeth are great preventive measures, but doing away with excess sweets would really give your teeth a healthy boost," Callen told the News Journal.
With his promotion, he said, "Kids can have the fun of trick-or-treating, and now their piggy banks will benefit as well."
Callen and associates Anthony Lordo and Mathew Snipes said they will hand out up to $1,000 in their buyback deal.
