REDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Police say more than three dozen dogs, a dozen cats and about six rabbits are getting veterinary treatment after being removed from a small home in a Detroit suburb.
Police Lt. Eric Gillman says neighbor complaints about the smell prompted Wednesday's raid at the home in Redford Township.
Gillman says authorities are still trying to determine if other animals are inside.

He says officers described the condition of the house as "deplorable," and that they said floors were "covered in dog waste, urine."
A mother and daughter, ages 66 and 44, were taken to a hospital for observation.
He says the animals have been taken to shelters and that condemnation proceedings have started for the home.
