NYC man stole 26 cars for scrap in 3 months, DA says
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Prosecutors say a New York City man went on a three-month car-stealing spree, taking more than two dozen vehicles to sell them for scrap.
Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson announced Friday that Reynaldo Nazario has been indicted on grand larceny and other charges. The 35-year-old Nazario is being held on $100,000 bond.
His lawyer didn't immediately return a call Friday night. A call to Nazario's Bronx home rang unanswered.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Prosecutors say Nazario made off with 26 cars between Aug. 9 and Oct. 23. and had them towed to a Bronx scrapyard. The DA's office says he falsely swore he was on state forms that allow vehicles over eight years old to be sold for scrap without a title.
Prosecutors say he got about $350 per car.
