New Jersey Transit says no trains will run to and from New York's Penn Station for several hours overnight as crews work to clear equipment after a derailment.
Service will be suspended from about 12:45 a.m. to 3 a.m. Wednesday, complicating commuting plans for travelers.
Commuters inched homeward by bus, hitched rides with friends and waved down taxis Tuesday evening after the derailment disrupted rail traffic across the Northeast.

Authorities closed one of the two rail tunnels used by Amtrak and New Jersey Transit trains between Manhattan and New Jersey. Inbound and outbound trains shared the remaining tunnel.
A 10-car train was leaving Penn Station for Trenton, N.J., when the last two cars jumped their rails at around 8 a.m. Tuesday. No one was injured.
