Nearly everyone who has attempted to have a discussion about Planned Parenthood has heard this number -- 3 percent.

Abortions make up only 3 percent of all the services Planned Parenthood provides, the argument goes -- proving that the organization is not about abortion. It's a common point that those on the Left have thrown around for years to defend the taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood.

But a new video from Live Action proves just how misleading that statistic really is. See the video here:

"To justify its half-billion dollars in taxpayer funding, Planned Parenthood downplays abortion -- falsely claiming that it only makes up 3 percent of its business -- and instead plays up its cancer screenings and so-called 'women's health care,'" explained Lila Rose, the president and founder of Live Action, in a statement.

"Planned Parenthood's own numbers prove it's an abortion corporation, focused on abortion, not on women's health care. Planned Parenthood doesn't perform a single mammogram, and it performs less than 2 percent of all women's cancer screenings in the United States, yet it commits over 30 percent of America's abortions," she continued.

The new video explains that Planned Parenthood counts every single service -- down to each pregnancy test it administers -- as one service. Therefore, a woman who comes in for an abortion might receive a pregnancy test, an STD test, and birth control on top of her real reason for showing up at Planned Parenthood. But to get that impressively small 3 percent statistic, Planned Parenthood counts that woman's visit as four services -- not her one abortion appointment.

In fact, 1 in 8 women who go to Planned Parenthood receive an abortion -- not 1 in 33.

Perhaps even more stunning, Planned Parenthood performs 160 abortions for every one time it receives an adoption referral.

"If a woman with an unwanted pregnancy goes to Planned Parenthood, that child is 160 times more likely to be poisoned or dismembered than to be put up for adoption to a waiting family," confirmed Rose in her statement.

Planned Parenthood actually accounts for 30 percent of the total abortions performed throughout the U.S. Lila Rose pointed out that "even The Washington Post and Slate.com have called out the abortion chain for its deception."

"Planned Parenthood is spending the most it ever has -- and double what it spent in 2012 -- to influence this year's election. Citizens have a right to know the truth behind an organization that has their politicians' ears," explained Rose. "We are giving activists a powerful new tool to counter one of Planned Parenthood's biggest lies, and we have the platforms in place to ensure this video is seen by tens of millions of people."

Planned Parenthood has been under increasing scrutiny since investigative videos were released last year. The election cycle has also drawn attention to the issue of abortion, particularly because of Hillary Clinton's increasingly radical stance on the issue. When it comes to Planned Parenthood, transparency must be implemented -- even if that means the ugly truth will be revealed.
