Rescue crews pulled a man and his cousin's dog from the frigid waters of the Huron River in southeastern Michigan after both fell through thin layers of ice.
WDIV-TV and WXYZ-TV report Friday that when Jim Swayze's 11-year-old coonhound, Bart, fell through the ice near the Pointe Mouillee State Game Area in Rockwood Thursday afternoon, he called 911 and home.

His cousin, Lance Eicher, arrived first. Eicher says he went out to fetch the dog before crashing through the ice and into about three and a half feet of water.
Eicher was able to grab Bart. Authorities later used a boat to pull the pair from the water.
