Michigan man and dog rescued from frigid water after ice breaks

Rescue crews pulled a man and his cousin's dog from the frigid waters of the Huron River in southeastern Michigan after both fell through thin layers of ice.
WDIV-TV and WXYZ-TV report Friday that when Jim Swayze's 11-year-old coonhound, Bart, fell through the ice near the Pointe Mouillee State Game Area in Rockwood Thursday afternoon, he called 911 and home.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}His cousin, Lance Eicher, arrived first. Eicher says he went out to fetch the dog before crashing through the ice and into about three and a half feet of water.
Eicher was able to grab Bart. Authorities later used a boat to pull the pair from the water.
