Manhunt on in northern Michigan for escaped sex offender

Everett Robinson took a deputy's car and gun and escaped, according to police in Michigan.

A convicted sex offender who escaped after stealing a deputy's gun and squad car and later accosted a woman in northern Michigan remains on the loose, according to authorities.

Everett Robinson, 29, served nine years in prison for criminal sexual conduct charges before being released last July. He had been re-arrested for an alleged home invasion and was being transported to Roscommon County Jail when he escaped on Monday.

Robinson was spotted Wednesday night, when he threatened a woman in her home with the stolen gun, then fled after she called 911, according to authorities. Later, police discovered a footprint believed to be Robinson's near a broken deer blind that was burglarized.

A manhunt involving more than 50 officers, helicopters and police dogs was underway in the wilderness of northern Michigan.

Robinson is believed to be barefoot, wearing a grey shirt and gray shorts. He is described as 5’10, 220 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.
