Authorities say a 47-year-old man who fled to Africa after being charged in 2010 with raping a child in the Syracuse area has been captured in Britain.
The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says Tobias Bowen was taken into custody after he got off a plane Saturday at a London airport.
Officials say Bowen was charged with rape and criminal sex act in March 2010, when he lived in the Syracuse suburb of Liverpool. After his $10,000 bail was posted, Bowen fled to his native Liberia, where he was administrator of a government hospital.

Onondaga County sheriff's detectives and U.S. Marshals tracked his travels to Liberia and the United Kingdom.
Bowen is awaiting extradition to the U.S. It couldn't immediately be determined if he has a lawyer in Syracuse or London.
