A former Southern California reserve police officer has pleaded no contest to drugging and raping a friend before shaving the unconscious man's body hair.
Los Angeles prosecutors say 56-year-old John Haig Marshall entered the plea Tuesday to a charge of sexual penetration of an intoxicated person.
Marshall faced up to eight years in prison if convicted at trial but reached a plea deal calling for three years in prison. He must also register as a sex offender.

The Torrance Daily Breeze (http://bit.ly/rHmk5l ) reports Marshall's 29-year-old friend told investigators he was drugged, sexually assaulted and shaved of his body hair a year ago in Marshall's shower in Redondo Beach. The men were drinking buddies.
Marshall's lawyer says the shower was consensual and there was no sexual penetration.
