SHREVEPORT, La. – Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator says deputies booked a teacher from Mansfield with simple battery of a student at the Academic Recovery School in Shreveport.
Prator says 53-year-old Alvin Orlando Williams allegedly grabbed a student around the neck to keep him from leaving the classroom, causing scratches and a mark on the student's neck.
He says the incident allegedly happened Feb. 7, and Williams was arrested Tuesday. His bond was set at $2,500.
Sheriff's Detective Jackie Winston says the incident occurred when a 14-year-old tried to go to the principal's office because other students were teasing him.
A news release says that when Williams tried to keep the boy from leaving, the boy cursed him and kept going. It says that was when Williams allegedly grabbed the boy's neck.
