Los Angeles police announced an arrest in the killing of at least three homeless people and one additional individual.
Police announced during a press conference on Saturday that Jerrid Powell, 33, was arrested in relation to the murders. Police say that Powell was arrested when his car was stopped by authorities.
Officials believe Powell murdered three homeless men in the past week, and also killed a father, Nicholas Simbolon, during a home robbery.

Los Angeles Police Department Chief Michel Moore said that a handgun was recovered from the suspect's car following the murder of a father during a home invasion.

In all three murders, the suspect walked up to the homeless individual, opened fire, and then walked away, according to police.

The three victims were on the streets alone when they were killed, not in or near homeless encampments.
According to police, authorities in Beverly Hills played a key role in the investigation and recognized Powell's plates, prompting the arrest.

The first murder happened last Sunday, followed by another Monday, with the third murder taking place on Wednesday. A fourth person was killed during a home robbery and found dead Tuesday.
