Nevada's Nellis Air Force Base investigates deadly military crash

Nevada fire officials and other agencies are investigating an aircraft crash that occurred near Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas Monday afternoon and left the pilot dead.
FOX5 reports that the crash happed at 2245 N. Christ Lane, south of the base, around 2:30 p.m.
Nellis Air Force Base said the aircraft was "contractor-operated" and that the crash occurred outside the southern edge of the base.

Nellis Air Force Base said earlier it is "aware" of the crash and that the aircraft in question is "associated" with the base.
A school clerk with Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary school described the crash as "really loud" and told FOX5 classes outside witnessed it.
Photos shared with news outlets showed billowing smoke in the area of the crash.

It remains unclear whether there were any other injuries or fatalities.
Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak tweeted that he and his wife "are praying for all those involved in today's incident – especially the men and women of @NellisAFB and the first responders at the scene."
