In an incident police described as a murder-suicide involving "mostly family members," a gunman shot dead three people, including an infant, before turning the weapon on himself at a home in Bayonne, N.J., late Monday.
Police found a woman outside the home with a gunshot wound after being called to the residence about 8:00 p.m. local time amid reports of gunfire, The Jersey Journal reported.
Despite speaking limited English she was able to alert officers to further victims inside the home.

A man and a woman were found dead inside the home. Both had been shot.
A baby boy, aged between 12 and 18 months, was rushed to a nearby hospital -- also suffering a gunshot wound -- but did not survive.
The gunman died inside the home but it was not yet clear if he shot himself before or after the police entered the house.

The woman found outside the home was transported to the Bayonne Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
A neighbor told NBC New York his brother had heard fighting coming from the home before gunshots were heard. Police said between 15 and 20 shots were fired.
"It is a tragedy and a senseless loss of life for the family and the community as a whole," Bayonne Mayor Mark Smith told reporters at the scene.

"The investigation will continue and hopefully we will come up with a rationale for why this happened."
There was some suggestion the gunman was visiting his ex-wife at the home, according to The New York Times.
Autopsies will be performed on the victims Tuesday.
