Identical twin brothers who share a way with words have been named Delaware's poets laureate — the first time in the state's history that more than one person has been named to the post at one time.

Gov. Jack Markell announced Wednesday that Nnamdi Chukwuocha and Albert Mills, known as the Twin Poets, will share the title of 17th Poets Laureate of Delaware.

Markell praised the brothers' artistic excellence, as well as their work with underserved communities.

The award-winning duo has performed at theaters, universities, orphanages, group homes, and in prison poetry programs in several states.

Chukwuocha is a social worker and Wilmington city councilman. He chairs the Education, Youth and Families committee.

Mills is also a social worker and certified therapist who has worked in the juvenile justice system.
