Prosecutors have added five counts of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence against a man jailed in a wrong-way crash that killed five people in northeastern Pennsylvania last month.

Twenty-eight-year-old Gennadiy Manannikov was arraigned Thursday and returned to the Lackawanna County jail where he's been held on vehicular homicide and other charges in the Jan. 23 crash on Interstate 81.

Police say Manannikov was nearly twice as drunk as the law allows and under the influence of marijuana when he drove the wrong way on the interstate for about seven miles.

Four people in the vehicle Manannikov hit were killed, as well as his passenger.

The defense attorney for Manannikov could not immediately be reached for comment.
