Georgia high school stabbing incident prompts lockdown: report

Police are on scene at Robert S. Alexander Comprehensive High School in Douglasville

An Atlanta-area high school was in a temporary lockdown Tuesday following reports of a stabbing involving students. 

The incident happened at the Robert S. Alexander Comprehensive High School in Douglasville, according to Fox5 Atlanta

Douglas County School System Police Department Chief Tracey Whaley said one male victim was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for his injuries, the station reported.

Whaley also said there may have been two males involved in the stabbing but no suspects are in custody, it added.

"There is a police presence at Alexander to maintain the safety and security of our school community," school officials told parents earlier in the day, according to Fox5 Atlanta. 

All students at the school are currently safe and inside their classrooms, the officials reportedly added.

Details about the stabbing remain unclear. 

A photo purportedly taken by a student at the school showed numerous evidence markers placed on a floor inside.
