This is a picture of my grandfather Davis Wesley Hooten. He is the soldier on the right with three other soldiers and two French children. My grandfather was in WWI. When WWII began, he tried to re-enlist but was refused because of his age and health issues by being gassed in WWI. He was a true American. Dear Fox and Friends, This is a photo of me being given the American Flag at my dad’s memorial service yesterday, May 28. My dad served in WWII on the USN ship YMS 302. My mom passed away a year before and she was a riveter at the Glenn L. Martin-Nebraska bomber factory, riveting the wings on the fuselage of the B29s. They were interred together yesterday. Memorial Day takes on a whole new meaning this year. On June 4, 2020, our son, who had just celebrated his 19th birthday, was killed in a car accident on his way to PT at Fort Carson. Even though we have military family, we had not experienced a military death. Now we wholly understand the meaning of this day. The importance of sharing with loved ones what this day is about. I have attached two photos showing my father Lt. Edward M. Sahagian, Army Air Corp (second from the left top row) and crew atop of his B-24 Liberator after crashing coming in for a landing to his base in England, October,1944, on the way back from a bombing mission over Germany. My father, Norman Brewster was shot down over Germany on 17, August, 1943, while on a mission to take out a ball bearing plant in a combined mission to Schweinfurt and Regensburg. He was the bombardier in the plane. While many of the crew made it out, and spent the balance of the war as POWs, others were killed in action. The photo of the crew in front of their plane shows my father in the front, bottom, left of the picture. The second photo shows what was left of the plane in Germany, following being shot down. Retired Chief Master Sgt Phil Madamba, U.S. Air Force. November 19, 1949, to December 18, 2009. He passed away at age 60 because of his exposure to Agent Orange. Retired age 50 after serving the U.S. Air Force for 30 years. He immigrated to Hawaii from the Philippines at age 19 in March 1969, drafted to the military in August 1969, five months after he immigrated to Hawaii. He was sent on several TDYS to the Republic of Vietnam during the war to support the troops. And this was the very time he was exposed to deadly Agent Orange. He was able to fight the toxicity of the AO for 41 years. HE IS MY HERO FOR HE DEDICATED HALF OF HIS LIFE SERVING AMERICA. HE WAS ALWAYS PROUD WEARING HIS MILITARY UNIFORM FOR 30 YEARS. Attached is a photograph of Capt. Lloyd Brooks Mitchell in September, 1943. He had just returned to the states after completing 25 missions as a navigator on a B-17. 80% casualties! He is seeing me, Brooks Mitchell, for the first time. Notice however he doesn't seem too interested in me. Look at the gaze in his eyes on my mother. Alois J. Mand, a highly decorated World War II hero proudly displayed his Purple Heart license plate. In addition to the Purple Heart, he also received the Distinguished Service Cross, The Bronze Star and numerous other medals. Our dad/grandfather was born and raised in Wisconsin in the village of St. Peter. He died nearly 20 years ago - just weeks before 9/11. We, his seven children and 12 grandchildren, are all so very proud of him, and we miss him dearly and honor his memory not just on Memorial Day, but always.![DO NOT USE]()

He worked tirelessly with Disabled Vets through his time with the Union, NJ ELKS. My Dad, Frank Clemente, had a massive heart attack while carrying the American Flag marching in the Memorial Day Parade. This Memorial Day we will be gathering with family and friends at our fifth-generation family commercial fishing dock in Sebastian, Florida, where we proudly have on display a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted stainless steel sculpture of an American soldier. This soldier sculpture was handcrafted and welded by my husband (with assistance from our son), and took more than 2000 man hours to create out of stainless steel. The sculpture represents all American soldiers from the Revolutionary war to the present. There are dog tags from each of the major conflicts with the number of soldiers lost on each dog tag, totaling more than 1.3 million soldiers lost. In addition, the soldier is equipped with equipment and weapons representative of each time period. It is our pleasure and honor to share this with the public and Veterans from all branches of the service. Veterans have been flocking to to site and have been adding their signature to the wooden planks that the soldier is standing on. As a US citizen and Navy veteran who lives in Ontario, Canada, my Memorial Day tradition includes driving to Western New York to help place flags on graves of veterans. My brother, LT Keith Maitland, flew F/A-18s for the Navy and helped to liberate Kuwait during Desert Storm after Saddam Hussein invaded the country in 1991. Keith (call sign: VIKTOR) died May 28, 1992 after his Hornet suffered a catastrophic bird-strike and his ejection seat/parachute failed. The anniversary of his death frequently falls on Memorial Day weekend. Sgt Royce Alexander. He deployed to Iraq four times. Twice for 12 months and twice for 15 months before being medically retired.
