The attorney for a Florida man who was exonerated of rape after spending 24 years in prison says new attempted murder charges against his client are "bizarre" and "inconsistent."

Alan Jerome Crotzer is accused of shooting into a car that he was driving alongside Sunday in Tallahassee, wounding Antoine Davis in his arm and leg.

The 51-year-old Crotzer was compensated by the state more than $1 million after DNA evidence and other information convinced prosecutors that he didn't commit the rape. He has since been an advocate for wrongfully convicted inmates.

Crotzer is currently being held without bond. His attorney, Thomas Powell, says he has not yet had time to discuss the charges with Crotzer, but he plans to file a plea of not guilty.
