Florida man accused of knocking elderly dad out of wheelchair, leaving him on the floor for 3 days

Police say a Gainesville man beat and kicked his elderly father after dumping him out of his wheelchair and then let him on the floor for three days.

The Gainesville Sun reports 53-year-old David Bickford was arrested Monday on charges of aggravated abuse of an elderly or disabled person. He remains in the Alachua County Jail Wednesday, where bond has been set at $15,000.

Police say Bickford got into a fight with his 75-year-old father on Friday. After dumping him from the wheelchair, police say Bickford repeatedly hit him in the chest and kicked him in the abdomen.

The man's caregiver saw him on the ground Monday when she arrived at the house. Police say the man had not taken his medicine since Friday.

Jail records didn't list an attorney.
