Fetus found at Connecticut sewage plant

Police say a worker has found a fetus at a sewage treatment plant in Stamford.

WFSB-TV reports that investigators said the fetus was about five or six months old and was found in a trash bin designated to receive large items.

Following an autopsy, the state medical examiner ruled that the fetus had not been born and the mother likely had a miscarriage.

If it's determined to have been a miscarriage, the mother will not face charges.

Police said the fetus had been flushed down a toilet within about 24 hours from when it was found Saturday.
