Federal prosecutors have rested their case against an Oklahoma man charged with sexually abusing children at an orphanage in Kenya.

Prosecutors questioned their final witness Monday in the trial of 20-year-old Matthew Lane Durham of Edmond.

Durham was a volunteer at the Upendo Children's Home in Nairobi and faces 17 counts of sexual misconduct, including aggravated sexual abuse and engaging in illicit sexual conduct in foreign places. He has pleaded not guilty and faces life in prison if convicted.

U.S. District Judge David Russell denied defense requests to dismiss some of the charges. The defense will begin presenting its case Tuesday.

Some 24 witnesses, including five children, testified for the prosecution. The children testified in private to shield them from the public and the media.
