Relatives of a Georgia inmate set to be executed this week spoke at his clemency hearing.
Fifty-nine-year-old Marcus Wellons' execution by injection is set for Tuesday evening. He was convicted in 1993 of raping and murdering his 15-year-old neighbor, India Roberts, a high school sophomore in the Atlanta suburbs.
The list of people scheduled to speak Monday before the state Board of Pardons and Paroles included Wellons' mother, two brothers, his daughter, a niece, a friend, an expert witness and a pastor. Prosecutors addressed the board during a separate appointment later in the day.
