Facebook Post Leads to New Jersey Man's Arrest

Published November 17, 2014

UPPER PITTSGROVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- Facebook postings led to an animal cruelty investigation that culminated with the arrest of a south Jersey man on a weapons charge.

The New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says what it considered to be "disturbing" postings on the social media site caused officials to execute a search warrant in Upper Pittsgrove Township on Tuesday night.

Authorities arrested Ian Barlow.

NJSPCA president Rick Yocum says the group rescued five cats and discovered between 15 and 20 dead cats neatly wrapped in baggies in the freezer. Yocum says a number of animals remain on the property and are being monitored.

Animal cruelty charges are pending.
