The ex-wife of the man charged with going on a deadly shooting rampage at a Moore County nursing home where she worked testifies that she tried to kill herself the day before the trial began.

Wanda Neal testified Tuesday that she downed 60 prescription pills with alcohol because she knew some of the family members of the eight people killed in the shootings at Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center blamed her for the March 29, 2009 shootings.

Defense attorney Jon Megerian pointed out that Neal and her ex-husband, Robert Stewart, were taking almost the same medications when she tried to kill herself and when he went on the shooting rampage.

Stewart's attorneys blame clinical depression and prescription medication for his actions.
