Ex-Maine prosecutor fights child porn conviction
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A former drug prosecutor in Maine is challenging his conviction for child pornography charges.
The Kennebec Journal of Augusta reports that James M. Cameron, who was found guilty in August of more than a dozen charges after waiving a jury trial, is asking for a new trial or acquittal.
The 48-year-old Cameron, a former assistant attorney general from Hallowell, has filed several motions saying he was denied the right to confront adverse witnesses and was denied due process.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Prosecutors say Cameron created 17 user profiles and left a trail of child porn on file servers and on his home computers.
Federal prosecutors say the verdicts should stand and the request for a new trial should be denied.
Cameron's in federal custody and will be sentenced later this year.
