BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – A former defense contractor charged last month with trying to ship to Iran stolen proprietary information about the Air Force F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program and military jet engines is facing a new charge involving a third company.
Mozaffar Khazawee is a former Manchester, Conn., resident now living in Indianapolis. He is charged with stealing the material from companies where he'd worked.
Prosecutors say customs inspectors found sensitive technical manuals and other documents in a November shipment to Iran that Khazawee described as household goods.
Authorities added a third count of transporting stolen goods and seized about $60,000 that is subject to forfeiture if he's convicted. Pratt & Whitney says it's one of the companies.
Khazawee is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday. A message left with his attorney was not immediately returned.
